Ribbon Cutting for New PreK-3 Playgrounds

The South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools celebrated the completion of new playgrounds at Adrian, Rowland, and Sunview Elementary Schools with a series of ribbon cutting ceremonies on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Despite the relocation of the scheduled programs to an indoor format due to stormy weather, a profound sense of Arc pride and excitement was present throughout the evening. Each program began with opening remarks by the building principals, including Ken Lasky from Adrian Elementary, Lee Fuller from Rowland Elementary, and Arika Taylor from Sunview Elementary. Students also delivered outstanding musical and vocal performances under the direction of building music teachers to celebrate the momentous occasion.

The programs also featured special remarks by Superintendent Dr. Linda N. Reid during which she shared that the construction of the new playgrounds reflected the dedication of the district’s leadership team and Board of Education to the strategic planning process and overall mission to make the SEL Schools The Destination School Community, both now and into the future. Dr. Reid graciously thanked all those who helped to make the new playgrounds a reality, including the Board of Education, Karl Williamson - Director of Business Affairs, PTA representatives, staff, parents, and students. Each ceremony culminated with a special ribbon cutting where Dr. Reid was joined by Board of Education members, Mr. Williamson, building principals, PTA representatives, as well as elected officials from the Cities of South Euclid and Lyndhurst.

Students in preschool through third grade are having a blast learning and having fun on their new, state-of-the-art playgrounds. On behalf of the SEL Schools, thank you the entire school community for your contributions and support on behalf of the new elementary school playgrounds which will be enjoyed by students for generations to come.
